Carter Joins House Republican Caucus Policy Committee
February 18, 2011
Representative Stefani Carter (Dallas) joins the House Republican Caucus Policy Committee as an at-large officer. Carter will represent the north Texas region on the committee, the largest of the regional groups.
“I am truly humbled to have been selected by the House Republican Caucus leadership to serve on the Policy Committee,” said Representative Carter. “I hope that I will be able to positively contribute to policy discussions and assist the Caucus in identifying strong, conservative legislation.”
The role of the committee is to make recommendations on legislation being considered in the House. The committee’s recommendations are based on the political impact of proposed legislation and the merit of the policy. The committee distributes a report containing its final recommendations to the Caucus membership.
The policy committee consists of 16 members: two members elected by the members within each of the six geographic regions of the state approved by the Caucus, three at-large members appointed by the Caucus Chair, and the Caucus Policy Chair. In the event that a policy committee member is unable to attend a meeting of the policy committee, he or she may designate a proxy from the region to attend and vote at the meeting of the policy committee.
